New Delhi, July 04, 2022: Barcelona have completed the signing of Danish defender Andreas Christensen from Chelsea on a free transfer, the La Liga club confirmed on Monday. Christensen, 26, has agreed on a contract at Camp Nou until 2026 after his Chelsea deal expired last week. His release clause has been fixed at 500 million.
Christensen became Barcelona’s second signing of the day, following the arrival of AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie. Christensen has spent a decade at Chelsea, including two years away on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach, but will now start the next chapter of his career in Spain.
According to the reports published in indiatoday.in the Danish defender will compete for a place with Gerard Pique, Ronald Araujo and Eric Garcia, with Clement Lenglet, Samuel Umtiti and Oscar Mingueza all set to leave. There could yet be further signings in defence, too, with coach Xavi Hernandez keen on Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.
