Shane Warne and Sachin Tendulkar were part of some of the most scintillating matches between Australia and India.
New Delhi, September 13, 2022: Sachin Tendulkar tweeted a warm birthday message for his long-time friend Shane Warne, one of the greatest bowlers to have played the game. Warne, who took 708 Test and 293 ODI wickets in a stunning career from 1992 to 2007, died on March 4 in 2022.
Over the years, Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne forged a strong friendship which reflected off the field. Both men, considered to be among the best to have played the game, hold records few can even hope to emulate.
While Sachin Tendulkar finished as the leading run-scorer in Tests and ODIs and as the only man with 200 Test caps and 100 international hundreds, Shane Warne capped off a fine career with 708 wickets in the longest format despite coming from a land where pacers have held sway.
Sachin took to Twitter and wrote, “Thinking of you on your birthday Warnie! Gone too soon. Had so many memorable moments with you. Will cherish them forever mate.” According to the reports published in indiatoday.in
Sachin is currently taking part in the Legends League Cricket, which is currently taking place at Green Park in Kanpur. In the match against South Africa Legends, the Master Blaster scored 16 runs off 15 balls with the help of two fours. He found the boundary down the ground before fast bowler Makhaya Ntini accounted for his wicket.
Sachin remains the only batter with over 100 centuries in international cricket. Virat Kohli and Ricky Ponting are second in the list with 71 centuries apiece. Warne, on the other hand, retired around 15 years ago, but remains the second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket after the legendary Muttiah Muralitharan.
Warne and Sachin also played together in the All Star exhibition match in New York back in November 2015.
Back in March, Warne passed away in Thailand while partying with his friends. The 52-year-old breathed his last due to a suspected heart attack. He was staying in a villa in Koh Samui when he died.
