Asia Cup 2022: Rohit Sharma’s India have lost both their matches in the Super Four and are on the verge of getting knocked out of the tournament.

  • India are yet to win a game in Super Four of Asia Cup 2022
  • India lost to Sri Lanka by 6 wickets
  • India’s last match is against Afghanistan on September 9

New Delhi, September 07, 2022: Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar reckoned that India should be looking to learn from their defeats in the Asia Cup 2022 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). After winning both their matches in Group A, the Men in Blue lost both their matches in the Super Four.

After losing to Pakistan by five wickets in a nail-biter on Sunday, September 4, India lost to Sri Lanka by six wickets on Tuesday. With a lot of permutations and combinations needing to go their way, Akhtar said that India don’t have much of a chance to advance to the final.

“India haven’t played all that badly, but they haven’t done well and fans are within their rights to get frustrated. However, I feel that there is a rise after every fall and it might help India in the World Cup,” Shoaib was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel.

Akhtar was also of the opinion that skipper Rohit Sharma needs to eliminate the chinks in his armour before the T20 World Cup to be played later this year in Australia.

“India shouldn’t be disheartened, but they need to learn quickly. They need to find their best combination and Rohit Sharma needs to sharpen his captaincy and stay patient,” he stated.

Moreover, Akhtar went on to predict Sri Lanka and Pakistan as the two finalists of Asia Cup 2022.

“If Pakistan lose both their next two matches, then India can qualify, but I don’t think India have a chance. As per me, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play in the final,” Shoaib added. According to the news published in indiatoday.in

India, in the meantime, are scheduled to play their last and final Super Four match against Afghanistan on September 9 in Dubai.
