New Delhi, February 26, 2021: The cash rich Indian Premier League (IPL) recently concluded its mini-player auction in Chennai. The event ended up throwing some big surprises as the eight franchises vied with each other to pick and choose the final 292 players who were enlisted in the bidding game.

Australian batsman and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise skipper David Warner took to his Instagram account to share a photo of himself leading his favourite IPL franchise on field. Warner, along with the picture, penned a message and said that leading the players, fans and staff of the ‘unbelievable franchise’ is one of his favourite things.

Singing praises of the franchise, Warner called them as ‘an amazing bunch’ that have been part of the team so far. He also added that he is looking forward to the upcoming season.

Warner’s post on the photo-video sharing platform raked in over four lakh likes and tons of user comments since going online. Among the comments, SRH through their official handle commented on Warner’s post and wrote ‘Love you 3000’. The 34-year-old replied with a heart emoji.

SRH fans were relieved aboutWarner’s confirmation for the upcoming season and many saw his post as a testament that he will be present in the 14th edition of the IPL. Just days before the mini-auction, rumour mills were rife about Warner may not be part of the upcoming season due to a groin injury. However, the southpaw confirmed that he will resume playing from March. He also added that the injury might take six to nine months to heal completely.

The former Aussie skipper through a tweet announced that he will be returning to playing domestic cricket for New South Wales and will feature in the Australia Domestic One-Day Cup tournament on March 4 according to the reports published in news18.com.

Warner’s association with IPL goes back to 2009, when he first played with Delhi Daredevils. Since then, the player has come a long way in the cash-rich tournament. He joined the Hyderabad based franchise in 2014 and was made its captain a year later. Warner is one of the most successful batsmen in the league and has won three Orange Caps in 2015, 2017 and in 2019. The same year, he became the first foreign player in the IPL to have amassed over 5,000 runs.
